Overview

If you find yourself wandering through the heart of Málaga, a visit to Descorche Málaga D.O.C. is a must for those who appreciate refined tapas paired with an expert selection of local wines. Nestled in C. Álamos, Distrito Centro, this vibrant tapas restaurant blends traditional Andalusian flavors with a contemporary twist that surprises and delights.

The menu here is a curated journey through Mediterranean and Spanish culinary heritage. Highlights like Pulpo a la Brasa—charred octopus with smoky depth—stand alongside delicate dishes such as Ajoblanco Malagueño con Tataki de Atún Rojo, marrying cold almond soup with expertly seared red tuna. Vegetables find their spotlight through artfully prepared bites of Alcachofas and crispy Eggplant Chips, demonstrating the kitchen’s balance between texture and taste.

Descorche also excels in showcasing the rich bounty of Málaga’s seas and farmlands. The Baby Squid with Vegetables and fresh Anchovas pay homage to local fishing traditions, while the Carne Di Maiale Con Patate offers a rustic comfort dish for meat lovers. Complementing the savory array are signature desserts like the velvety Tiramisú and the unexpected sweetness of Berenjenas con Miel de Caña, highlighting how well the menu balances indulgence with restraint.

The setting is intimate yet lively, perfect for both relaxed dinners and spirited gatherings. Its location in Málaga’s bustling district makes it a convenient stop for travelers and locals seeking authentic flavors without the pretense. The staff’s expert knowledge, especially Gaspare the sommelier, elevates the experience — their wine pairings consistently bring the dishes to their fullest expression. Guests repeatedly mention the attentive and personalized service, which shapes a welcoming atmosphere and encourages lingering over multiple glasses of local Moscatel or a carefully chosen robust red.

Descorche Málaga D.O.C. holds particular appeal for food lovers and connoisseurs of Spanish wines, as well as those eager to explore Andalusian cuisine beyond the usual offerings. Whether you’re drawn by the fresh seafood, the vegetable-forward creations, or the warm hospitality, this tapas restaurant delivers a memorable taste of Málaga’s culinary soul.

Fab local wine bar, serving smashing food. Staff are very helpful, pushing the local wine, which is very good. Theres a vast wine collection to suit all tastes. It’s a great peaceful relaxing place, great for a bite to eat and glass of wine or a drink on the way home. The food is super tasty, lots of it and a great selection. Some of the fish dishes looked amazing - we’re going back for that It does get busy so booking would be recommended, we managed to walk in, but it was early evening before 8.

Delicious food and attentive service - thank you Alvaro! Great recommendations for wine as well. We had the two specials, the green tomatoes and oyster mushrooms with asparagus. Both divine. Really nice place away from the crowds.

We had the best time here! Gaspare really knows how to recommend wines that fit your taste and go way beyond what you’d expect. The food was amazing, the wine was excellent, and you’ve gotta save some room for dessert—the fig flan was so good we finished it before we could even take a picture!

Recommended by the friendly lady at our hotel’s front desk, this restaurant truly lived up to the praise. The food was delicious, and our waiter, Gaspare, offered exceptionally attentive service. On the menu, I saw a dish called “Homemade croquettes according to chef’s imagination.” The chef must be someone who truly loves life. I’d love to return here on my next visit.
